Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) course is a 4hr course which aims to enable candidates to be confident and be able to deliver the safe application of an automated external defibrillator (AED). It also teaches candidates safe and effective CPR techniques to buy time while awaiting the arrival of an AED.
Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation (RQF)
Be 16 years of age or older.
This qualification is valid for a period of 1 year. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.
5 Notional Guided Learning Hours:
- 4 Recommended Guided Learning Hours
- 1 Non-Contact Guided Learning Hours
This qualification covers:
- Effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Effective usage of an AED as both a team leader and a single operator for a casualty with no shock indicated, a casualty with shock indicated, and an unknown scenario
